Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour Itinerary

1. Hotel Pickup and Transfer to Kathmandu Airport

The tour begins early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Kathmandu. Our driver will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport, and a representative will give you boarding passes and proceed for check-in and flight preparations.

2. Kathmandu to Lukla

The helicopter departs Kathmandu and flies towards Lukla, where fuel drop-off is generally required before continuing towards the Everest region.

3. Lukla to Pheriche

From Lukla, the helicopter proceeds to Pheriche with five passengers, subject to aircraft performance, passenger weight, baggage, and prevailing operational conditions.

4. Everest Base Camp Overfly and Kala Patthar Landing

From Pheriche, the helicopter proceeds towards Everest Base Camp for an aerial overfly before continuing to Kala Patthar for a high-altitude landing.

The landing at Kala Patthar generally lasts approximately 5–10 minutes, subject to weather, visibility, safety requirements, and operational approval. During this time, passengers can take photographs and enjoy the spectacular views of Mount Everest and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Due to high-altitude operating limitations, shuttle operations between Pheriche and Kala Patthar are required. Passengers may need to be transported in smaller groups of approximately two or three at a time, depending on passenger weight, baggage, helicopter performance, and prevailing conditions.

After completing the first shuttle operation, the helicopter returns to Pheriche for the next shuttle, if required, depending on the number of passengers and operational requirements. Once all required shuttle operations are completed, the helicopter proceeds with the onward itinerary.

5. Breakfast at Hotel Everest View

After completing the high-altitude operations, the helicopter proceeds to Hotel Everest View for breakfast.

You can enjoy your breakfast surrounded by spectacular Himalayan scenery, take photographs, and appreciate the mountain landscape. The ground stop is generally around one hour or longer, depending on the flight schedule, weather, and operational conditions.

6. Return to Kathmandu

After breakfast, the helicopter returns towards Lukla for refueling before continuing to Kathmandu.

The tour is designed as a half-day helicopter experience, with approximately three hours of flight time. The expected return to Kathmandu is around 12:00 PM, although arrival may be earlier or later, depending on the day's weather, shuttle operations, refueling, and other operational factors.

Aircraft and High Altitude Flight Operations

Air Dynasty Heli Services operates the Airbus H125 for its Himalayan helicopter tours.

High altitude flights require careful consideration of passenger weight, baggage, weather conditions, air density, and aircraft performance. Passenger allocation and shuttle arrangements are therefore determined by operational requirements and safety limits.

All flights and landings remain subject to weather conditions, aviation regulations, and the pilot's operational assessment. In the event of a technical issue, an alternative suitable helicopter will be arranged, subject to availability.

Best Time for an Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour

Spring and autumn are generally popular seasons for helicopter tours in the Everest region.

  • Spring (March–May): Offers opportunities to enjoy the Himalayan landscape and mountain views during the trekking season.
  • Autumn (September–November): A popular period for Himalayan travel, with many visitors coming to Nepal for mountain adventures.

Helicopter flights operate during other seasons when conditions permit. However, mountain weather can change rapidly, and departures or landings cannot be guaranteed in advance, so contact Air Dynasty before booking the flight directly.

Weather, Rescheduling, and Refund Policy

Helicopter operations depend on suitable weather and safe flying conditions. Flights may be delayed, rescheduled, or cancelled because of poor visibility, fog, strong winds, mountain weather, technical issues, or other operational restrictions.

If a flight is cancelled due to weather or other operational reasons, Air Dynasty Heli Services will offer either:

  • Rescheduling to the next available day, subject to weather, operational conditions, and availability; or
  • A refund after deduction of applicable bank and card processing charges.

Rescheduling for the following morning depends on availability and safe operating conditions.

Passenger Cancellation Policy

Cancellation more than 24 hours before departure: A 20% cancellation charge applies. The remaining amount will be refunded after deduction of applicable bank charge and cancellation charge.

  • Cancellation within 24 hours of departure: No refund will be provided.
  • Passengers are advised to review the applicable booking terms before confirming their tour.
